Flip Flop Flying

I was in London for a couple of reasons. The first reason was that a friend of mine was getting married. I like having an excuse to wear a suit. Don’t do it often enough. I wonder if it is just because we are so used to seeing men in suits, but we really do look a hell of a lot better in a suit that any other type of clothing.

I think the champagne must’ve affected me, because I did spend a lot of time dancing at the reception. It’s been about five years since I’ve cut any rug, and it was rather enjoyable. I think dancing will catch on with the youngsters. Remember where you heard it first.

Best song of the night for me was one that I’ve not heard in a long time, one that was a favourite of mine when I was a little boy in the 1970s, and one that I’ve never heard played “out” before: “From New York to L.A.” by Patsy Gallant.

Here’s an mp3 of the aforementioned song should you fancy trying out some of this dancing lark.

  1. Ladies have high heels, make-up, a thousand different cuts and styles. All we have, as men, is the suit.

Thankfully though, we all look awesome in a decent suit.

I’ve recently considered wearing nothing but suits, forever. Why shouldn’t I feel like a million dollars every day?

  2. You should do a column in GQ, Paul:

“Dear Paul, I have acne and halitosis. What can I do?”
“Wear a suit and feel like a million dollars every day!”

Frankly, I’m kinda glad there’s only the one option. Makes life easier.

  3. You, a suit and a bit of 70’s disco…be still my beating heart!
