3,219: I Knew You Were Waiting (For Me)

without comments

I Knew You Were Waiting (For Me) by George Michael and Aretha Franklin was number one in the UK thirty years ago. Aside from the parenthesis in the title being entirely superfluous, an interesting thing for me is the age gap. Aretha was 44, George was 23. If we transpose that to 2017, that’d be like Liam or Niall out of One Direction doing a duet with Geri Halliwell. There aren’t many music heavyweights who are 44 now. The only other ones are Vanessa Paradis, Liam Gallagher, and Eminem.
