Roadrage

without comments

Just a wee visualisation of what I feel happens when I get angry with a motorist who drives like a dick (that happens a lot in Mexico City). I feel like my anger is disproportionate to a lot of the stuff that drivers do. The white centres of the circles at the junction represent actual anger, and the coloured circles around them represent the accumulated anger and hate for people of a different type of movement along streets. I’m not just angry at you for not indicating when turning left and nearly knocking me, a pedestrian, over: I’m angry at every fucking driver who does that in this fucking city.

Drawing pints while I drink them

without comments

A series of ten drawings. I drew the first one of the series (below) when I was waiting for a friend, and after that, decided to carry on whenever I had a chance in English pubs while I was back there.

See the whole series here: http://flipflopflyin.com/drawingpints/index.html

Orlando, again

without comments

Back at Tortas Jorge. Orlando, the guitar man, kept moving his head, and, y’know… drawing whilst drinking… I lost the will to do a proper representation of the what was on his shoulders.

Hector’s drawing

without comments

This is not an original idea whatsoever; there are those drawings that someone did where they fancy up kids’ drawings, and this is the same concept, essentially.

People, some people, not all people, tend to be interested in how one draws on one’s iPod. When that happens, I whip out my thing, open the Brushes app, and do a little scribble on a blank document so they can see the process. If that person then asks to have a go, I hand over the iPod and let them draw.

In the past, I’ve done some drawings that are based on the doodles of other people within my iPod, but I’ve not flagged them up, mostly because I never saved the original doodle that the other person drew. But this time, I did.

On New Year’s Eve, my friend Hector did this drawing:

I saved it, and emailed it to him. And the original sat there in my Brushes app for a few weeks. But last night, whilst watching a documentary about Will Self on YouTube, I doodled over the top of Hector’s drawing. And turned it into a drunk, angry, vicar:

Doing this sort of thing is incredible fun. You are freed from trying to get things “right.”

So, anyway, here’s a wee animation showing Hector’s original and my drawing fading between each other:
